Budenase AQ Nasal Spray (Budesonide) is a hay fever and nasal allergy treatment used for its anti-inflammatory properties. Its mechanism of action is inhibition of the many different cell types and mediators of inflammation responsible for inflaming the nasal passages, often as a response to allergens such as dust or pollen. This stops the chemicals which bring about allergy symptoms (especially nasal inflammation) from being released. This medicine is classified as a corticosteroid, and in addition to treating perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis, it has also been used to treat nasal polyps.
Budenase AQ Nasal Spray (Budesonide) comes in a bottle containing 7.5ml of the spray. This is sufficient to deliver 150 metered doses directly into the nasal passage. Patients administer the spray by inserting the specially designed nozzle into the nose and pressing down so as to release the medicine. However, it may be necessary to prime the spray before the first use, which can be achieved by spraying it up into the air, taking care not to get any of it into the eyes. Your physician will calculate the frequency of administration, and it is worth noting that the required dosage for hay fever may differ to that required for nasal polyps. Ensure that you follow the instructions given by your physician.
Nasal administration of the corticosteroid Budenase AQ Nasal Spray (Budesonide) for the treatment of allergies and other conditions may lead to side effects. It will be necessary to inform your physician of all reactions that occur. Examples can include:
Contact your physician or go to the hospital immediately if you suffer from acne that is severe in nature, white sores around the face, swelling of the face, visual disturbances, fever or any other serious adverse events which have not been referenced here.
Budenase AQ Nasal Spray (Budesonide) is only intended to be sprayed into the nose, and nowhere else in the body. It should also never be drank or ingested.
If any of the medicine gets into the eyes, you may need to rinse them with clean water and get medical assistance immediately.
