Jardiance

Jardiance (Empagliflozin) is used to treat Type-2 diabetes mellitus in adults. When used with exercise and diet it can help lower blood sugar levels.

Jardiance is available in two different strengths - 10mg tablets and 25mg tablets. It is sold as a strip of 10 tablets.

Most people will start with a dosage of 10mg taken once daily. This can be increased to 25mg daily if required and well tolerated.

Jardiance can cause some serious side effects. Tell you doctor immediately if you develop any of the following:

• dehydration
• ketoacidosis
• serious urinary tract infections
• vaginal yeast infections
• yeast infections of the penis

Jardiance can increase the risk of low blood sugar if you are taking other medicines that lower blood sugar such as sulfonylurea and insulin.

Jardiance can cause higher cholesterol.

Before taking Jardiance, tell your doctor if you:

• have any kidney problems
• have any liver problems
• have a history of urinary tract infections
• are due to have surgery
• have any problems with your pancreas
• drink often or binge drink
• have recently change your diet especially if you are eating less

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. The effect of Jardiance on unborn babies is unknown and it is not know if it is passed through breast milk.
