Tazret

Tazret (Tazarotene) is classified as a retinoid and is indicated for the topical treatment of psoriasis and acne. It works by acting on the retinoic acid receptors and reducing skin inflammation. The active ingredient in this product shares similarities with vitamin A. After application to the skin, it is changed into its active form by means of a process known as hydrolysis.

Therapy with this product can help to aid in the renewal process and lighten the skin`s appearance. Medical studies have confirmed its efficacy in the treatment of acne vulgaris. Its mechanism of action against acne involves affecting the abnormal keratinization process that occurs alongside acne vulgaris.

Use in patients suffering from psoriasis can reduce the elevation of plaques and scaling, while also relieving redness. Some people have even used it to treat skin that has become damaged by the sun. Tazret (Tazarotene) is available as a 0.1 per cent strength cream or a 0.05 per cent strength gel. There are subtle differences between these two products and your physician will advise you on which one is most suitable for the treatment of your particular condition. The skin must be fully dry before application, no matter whether you are applying the gel or the cream.

Patients treating psoriasis will most likely be instructed by their physician to apply enough of the product so as to cover the lesion. For acne, the face should be cleaned and gently dried and the acne spots covered with a thin layer of the product. Your physician will inform you of how long treatment will need to be continued for. Keep a close eye on your skin and report any irritation or side effects to your physician. Attend the emergency room straight away or call your physician if you notice extreme pain on the skin, symptoms of a skin infection, inflammation or any other serious reactions.

Tazret (Tazarotene) must not be taken by mouth. This could be dangerous and may lead to serious side effects. Medical treatment will be needed should accidental oral ingestion occur.

This product (either the gel or cream) should not be used by women who are pregnant.
