Apo-Moclobemide (Moclobemide) is active against a broad spectrum of anxiety related disorders and depressive illnesses. It is classified as a reversible monoamine oxidase inhibitor and its therapeutic benefits are achieved by inhibiting the action of the monoamine oxidase enzyme. This affects the breakdown of neurotransmitters, which helps contribute to an increased amount of monoamines, thereby restoring the mood and reducing depression. A study was conducted in which researchers stated that it may have limited efficacy in the treatment of neuropathic pain. It has even been researched for fibromyalgia, migraine, smoking cessation, panic disorder and other medical conditions.
Apo-Moclobemide (Moclobemide) comes in tablet form. It is available as 150mg or 300mg strength tablets. Adults treating depression are sometimes told by their physician to take 300mg per day, given as 2 separate doses. Changes to the dosage schedule may be ordered by the physician. Patients affected by social phobia are often ordered by their physician to take 150mg twice per day for a period of 3 days, after which they may be instructed to take 300mg twice per day.
Apo-Moclobemide (Moclobemide) can contribute to side effects, including:
Your physician must be notified of all reactions which occur throughout the course of treatment. Attend the emergency room immediately if you experience any side effects which are serious in nature.
