Arthrexin

Arthrexin (Indomethacin) relieves pain and inflammation. It is classified as an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), and its therapeutic effects are due to it inhibiting the process in which prostaglandins (substances that can affect the nerves and cause pain) are synthesized. This helps to relieve pain. It is indicated for a broad range of musculoskeletal disorders (arthritis, tendinitis and gout), as well as pain caused by injuries and sprains. Physicians may also use it to treat other conditions which have not been listed in this paragraph.

Arthrexin (Indomethacin) suppositories contain 100mg of the main active ingredient and are intended for rectal administration. Remove it from the packaging just before you are due to use it, and insert it exactly as your physician tells you. Your physician will give you clear and concise instructions related to the administration procedure and daily dosage, and it is necessary to comply with all directions provided.

Treatment of pain, arthritis or any other conditions with the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug Arthrexin (Indomethacin) might result in some patients experiencing side effects. Consult your physician if this happens. Possible examples are listed here:

• Nausea
• Vertigo
• Rectal irritation
• Buzzing noise noticeable in the ears
• Slight itchy sensation affecting the skin

Mild and less serious side effects are considered to be the most commonly reported type of side effect associated with this medicine. However, serious adverse reactions may affect some patient (although this is less common). Examples of this can include fever, peeling of the skin, weakness affecting the body and muscles, difficulty walking, speech problems and other side effects that have not been referenced in this paragraph.

Avoid the consumption of alcohol during treatment with Arthrexin (Indomethacin) suppositories, as drinking alcohol might make you more likely to experience stomach bleeding. If symptoms of stomach bleeding occur, see your physician straight away.

Stay out of the sun whenever possible. This medicine makes your skin more sensitive to the UV rays of the sun, and protecting yourself from sunburn is vital.
